New Features & Benefits |
Focus on enterprise-class features to make Subversion a compelling replacement to ClearCase. Merge tracking, partial checkouts, client-side changelists, improvements to svn:externals. CollabNet certified binaries expanded to include certification on RHEL 5, RHEL 64-bit and Solaris x86. The CollabNet packages have also been enhanced to include ViewVC and the Subversion Python API. |
Focus on establishing a regular six-month release rhythm. Main features includes initial tree conflict support, follow-up improvements to merge tracking from 1.5, single-file externals, and secure password storage mechanisms for Linux and Unix operating systems. |
Future enhancements include improving support for tree conflict detection (one user edits a file and another user has renamed it, etc.). A rewrite of the working copy library is also underway. This would be aimed at greatly improving performance as well as the size of the working copy. A new HTTP protocol that is focused on improving performance and dramatically reducing network roundtrips is also in progress. Tell us what you would like to see in future versions of Subversion, or our packaging of Subversion in this discussion forum. |
